About the artists:

Chuck Redd - vibraphone - Chuck is well known internationally as a performer on drums and vibraphone. He began recording and touring the globe when he joined the Charlie Byrd Trio as a drummer at the age of 21. He also became drummer for the Great Guitars – and ensemble that featured jazz legends Barney Kessel, Charlie Byrd and Herb Ellis.  To his credit are 25 European tours and six tours of Japan, with the Barney Kessel Trio, Ken Peplowski and the Benny Goodman Tribute Orchestra, Terry Gibbs and Conte Candoli. He served as Artist-In-Residence at The Smithsonian Jazz Café in Washington, DC from 2004-2008.  has toured and performed with Dizzy Gillespie, Mel Torme, Tommy Flanagan, Ray Brown, Monty Alexander, Scott Hamilton, and Houston Person.

Robert Redd - piano - Robert is currently a pianist with The Duke Ellington Orchestra, performing throughout the U.S. and abroad. Most recent tours with the orchestra have included Japan, Singapore, Korea, Israel, London and Brazil. He was a member of the Keter Betts trio for 13 years and continues to be pianist and leader for the Wolf Trap Jazz Trio which was started by Betts. From 1995-1998, Robert was pianist and musical director for singer/songwriter Kenny Rankin and he performs often with the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra. Robert is also a QRS recording artist, having recorded two piano rolls for the New York-based company. Recent recordings include “Bouquet Chorale” (Summit Records) featuring Marty Nau and legendary saxophonist Phil Woods and “When Redd is Blue”, co-led with his brother, Chuck. He is a featured artist every year at the W.C. Handy Music Festival in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. In his career he has performed with jazz greats John Pizzarelli, Houston Persons, Melba Moore, James Moody, Oscar Castro-Nevis, Warren Vache, the Harry James Band and the Artie Shaw Band.

Hassan JJ Shakur - bass - Originally from Los Angeles CA, Hassan was born into a musical family.  His father, Gerald Wiggins, was a major jazz pianist and winner of the L.A. Music Award.  J.J. began playing bass professionally at age 10 and toured internationally with the Craig Hundley trio at age 12, appearing several times on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.  At age 17 he began touring with the Duke Ellington Orchestra and continues to perform with them today.  He also tours the world with Jamaican jazz pianist Monty Alexander and has played and recorded with jazz masters Pearl Bailey, Al Grey, Teddy Wilson, Dizzy Gillespie, Milt Jackson, Billy Eckstein, Sarah Vaughn, Joe Williams, Herb Ellis and many others. Wiggins also played on the soundtrack to the 1989 film, "The Fabulous Baker Boys."
