Michele Buck, Chairman, CEO, and President of The Hershey Company and Steve Massini, CEO, Penn State Health are the Honorary Event Co-chairs. abc27’s evening anchor, Valerie Pritchett, will host the event as celebrity emcee. Live entertainment will be provided by the jazz duo of Steve Rudolph and Hassan Shakur. And a painting, created by central Pennsylvania artist Meaghan Troup live during event, will be offered to the highest bidder during a live auction just before the event concludes for the evening.

Keep on Tuckin’, the event theme, is an expression of hope for all those impacted by cancer. Tucker Davis coined Keep on Tuckin’ as a personal mantra while he battled a rare form of liver cancer. Tucker was diagnosed in August 2008 and succumbed to fibrolamellar liver cancer in February 2010. He was 28 years old. His parents, Marna and Chuck Davis, Co-chairs of the Fibrolamellar Cancer Foundation, will provide keynote remarks. They will be joined by Sandra Baksi and Michael Fagan, a patient of the CARE Center and her husband and caregiver. Sandi and Mike will give voice to their personal experiences of the CARE Center, its programs andservices, shining a light – in the process – on “Why we THRIVE.”

Event Grand Sponsors include The Hershey Company and two former Chairmen of its Board of Directors, Chuck Davis and Jim Nevels, along with their wives, Marna Davis and Lourene Nevels respectively. They are joined in supporting Cooking for Cancer by leaders across the Hershey entities, including the Milton Hershey School.

To support the THRIVE for Life Foundation and its sole beneficiary, the Penn State Cancer Institute CARE Center, secure online donations can be made here.

Proceeds raised from this event support the Penn State Cancer Institute CARE Center located on the campus of Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. The CARE Center provides distinctively Penn State personalized medicine – CARE for the whole person that is tailored to each individual’s unique situation, connecting patients to the resources they and their families need during active treatment and beyond.

Cooking for Cancer is one of three signature fundraising events hosted by the THRIVE for Life Foundation (thriveforlife.me) in partnership with each event’s sponsors. “Without exception, being diagnosed with cancer is personal,” says Michael Hayes, PhD, President of THRIVE for Life Foundation, Cooking for Cancer Event Co-Chair, and Founding Program Director, PSCI CARE Center. “THRIVE exists to generate philanthropic support for the CARE Center, enabling its team to provide much needed services and programs for those who are undergoing treatment for cancer through the Penn State Cancer Institute.”

“The remarkable generosity and support from across the Hershey entities stems from many individuals’ commitment of service to the broader Hershey community. It’s their collective commitment to serve a greater purpose – much like Mr. Hershey’s purpose of living through selfless intention to help others – that makes the possibilities alive in the CARE Center endless”, says Kathleen Purcell, PSCI CARE Center Advisory Board Member, Cooking for Cancer Event Co- Chair, and Chief of Staff, Board and Legal Transformation, The Hershey Company.
