We’re welcoming HJC - The Harrisburg Jazz Collective (formerly The River City Big Band) to our stage, and will have them regularly in the Listening Room at The Englewood. These shows occur every 3rd Wednesday!
The ensemble is a classic 16 piece jazz band led by pianist Steve Rudolph & trumpeter Bill Perbetsky - 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, 5 saxes, piano, bass and drums - the music includes classic big band repertoire – Buddy Rich, Thad Jones, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton and more, plus original compositions and arrangements from our members and friends.
On this night they’ll feature vocalist Cathy Chemi – former singer for the Harry James Orchestra. Cathy was also a featured jazz vocalist in all the Playboy Clubs in the U.S. She is currently a vocal instructor at Kutztown U. and has been a popular favorite of jazz audiences in Cent. PA since the ‘80’s.
These performances are in conjunction with the Central Pennsylvania Friends of Jazz.
